Eligibility & Admission
How to get admission into MBBS programme?
- To get admission into MBBS programme in India, students have to complete their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry & Biology and score minimum 50% marks (40% in the case of reserved category).
- Student’s age should be between 17 years to 25 years.
- The given qualification is not enough to get admission into MBBS course, students have to appear for the National Level Examination conducted by the CBSE, New Delhi, i.e. NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test). Students also apply for AIIMS Entrance Exam to get admission into MBBS programme.
- From the year 2016, the Supreme Court bans the state level or university level examinations for admission into MBBS programme. Now, all the admission into MBBS course through NEET Exam

B. D. S. (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) – 4 years
BDS is a professional degree programme in dentistry.
B. H. M. S. (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery) – 5.5 years
BHMS is a bachelor degree in Homeopathic Education in India regulated by the National Institute of Homeopathy.
B. A. M. S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) – 5.5 years
BAMS is a bachelor degree in ayurvedic system of medical field. In India, the Ayurvedic Education is regulated by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM).
M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) – 3 years
This degree is awarded to the doctors who are physicians. The minimum eligibility for this course is MBBS.

D.M (Doctorate in Medicine) – 2 to 3 years

B.Sc Nursing – 4 years

B.P.T (Physiotherapy) – 4.5 years

B.U.M.S (Unani Medicine) – 5.5 years
BUMS degree is equivalent to the BAMS, but in Unani medicines. Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology. Urdu is compulsory up to 10th class or equivalent Education. Candidate must have attained minimum 17 years of age at the admission.
D.Pharm (Ayurvedic, Siddha Medicine) – 2 years
It is a medical diploma course in pharmacy of ayurvedic medicines. Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology.
BMLT (Bachelor of Medical Lab Technicians) – 3 year
It is a bachelor degree of medical laboratory technology, contains the entire laboratory practices of the medical system. Candidate must have cleared the 10+2 exam with PCB. Various institutions are offering the B.Sc. programme in medical laboratory technology in India.
DMLT (Diploma of Medical Lab Technicians) – 1 year
It is a medical diploma course of medical laboratory technology, contains the laboratory practices of the medical field. Candidate must have cleared the 10+2 exam with PCB.
NEET 2017 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national level medical entrance test regulated by the CBSE Board. It is held for providing admissions in MBBS/BDS courses offered by all government and private medical colleges in India. It is a one tier exam, commences once in a year in month of May. From the year 2016 onwards, NEET exam has replaced AIPMT exam. All seats (MBBS/BDS) of any medical/dental college will be filled by the score of NEET examination only. As per the last order by Hon. Supreme Court, no other exam except NEET will be held for offering admission into MBBS/BDS courses in India from the year 2017. NEET Eligibility Criteria
Check the eligibility criteria as mentioned below:
- Nationality: Candidates should be an Indian Nationals or OCI (Overseas Citizen of India).
- Age Limit:
Minimum – The minimum age limit is 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.Maximum – The maximum age limit is 25 years for general candidates and 30 years for reserved categories.
Qualification: Students must have passed/appearing 12th or equivalent examination from any recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology or any other elective subject with English.

NEET Exam Pattern
The examination will be held on first week of May 2017. The exam pattern is given below:
- Courses: It is held for MBBS/BDS courses.
- Number of Questions: The question paper will contain total 180 multiple choice questions with single correct answer.
- Subjects: The paper will be asked from subjects as Physics, Chemistry, Zoology & Botany.
- Language: The language of question paper will be both – English or Hindi.
- Mode of Exam: The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen and paper based mode).
- Duration: The exam duration will of 3 hours.
- Marking Scheme: 4 marks will be awarded for each correct response.
- Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer as negative marking.

NEET 2017 Counselling
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will organize the counselling for 15% All India Quota through online mode. Admissions to students will be given as per the ranks scored by them in the entrance examination. Counselling for state quota, central institutions and universities or many others will be organized by their respective counselling authorities. In counselling process, students will be required to choose the colleges as per their choices. Seats will be allotted to students as per choices filled by them and availability of seats.
